Last week the Australian HR Institute (AHRI) hosted one of Australia’s most prominent events for HR professionals, the AHRI National Convention and Exhibition.
The annual event brings together HR professionals from all over Australia and a broad range of industry sectors. This year’s convention featured a fantastic lineup of speakers, mixing international leadership gurus and domestic HR experts, and the exhibition hall hosted an impressive selection of exhibitor stands.
Insightful sessions across the two days, included discussions around:
- managing an increasingly blended workforce
- preparing now for the future of HR
- understanding what a good leader will look like in the future
Keep an eye on our blog for some more detailed analysis of those topics in the not too distant future..
As this was our AHRI National Convention and Exhibition debut, as well as the first time we could bring our new brand to life on an exhibition stand, the Xref team was very excited. Chatting to so many inspired delegates was one of the many highlights, as well as talking them through our new platform.
During the seminar sessions at the show, Xref Co- founder and CEO Lee Martin Seymour, once again jumped on stage to facilitate a panel discussion on the topic of risky recruitment practices, drawing on findings from Xref’s 2017 Recruitment Risk Index: Industry Perspective. He was joined by Xref friends Keryn Paviour-Smith from Manpower Group and Sodexo’s Ben Rynja.
The session focused on inefficiency and under- utilisation in the recruitment process, and even included some recruitment horror stories from our panelists. One of the key takeaways was Lee’s tips for HR tech investment success, which took inspiration from our HR tech checklist.
And aside from the professionally enlightening conversations and presentations, the event of course also included the James Bond-themed gala dinner. HR people are a sociable bunch with some fantastic dance moves, which, accompanied by amazing on-stage entertainment, made the evening unforgettable.
Overall, we had an amazing time and the event is definitely on our radar for next year.
