Employers worldwide are beginning to appreciate the importance of a healthy and happy staff for business success. This is a sentiment that is key to the growth of cloud-based candidate referencing company, Xref, which has recently been awarded the HRD Employee of Choice Award for Employee Health and Wellbeing.
HRD’s second annual Employee Choice Awards are voted on by the people who matter most – employees - and Xref has this year made the list for providing a happy and healthy environment for its people. Companies included on the list have achieved the highest average scores from employees and have been acknowledged as ‘top performers’ in the sector.
According to HRD, nearly 20 percent of workers change jobs each year. That talent pool has also grown to become global meaning there has never been more talent to choose from. However, this also means that competition to recruit and retain the best people is now hotter than ever. Jobs must now create more than satisfaction, they must mean more than a pay-check and companies must really understand their employees.
Xref co founder and CEO Lee-Martin Seymour attributes the company’s sensitivity to employee satisfaction to the fact that almost all Xref’s staff come from an HR background. “Our people recognise the importance of a happy and healthy working environment for productivity and success. They enable us to do what we love, so making sure they have the tools and resources to achieve, promote and encourage health and wellbeing in our workplace is our number one priority.”
“We stress the importance of health and wellbeing in our offices everyday – social outings and gym attendance allowances are just some of the ways we encourage staff happiness.”
But it’s not just physical health that motivates Xref employees.
“We want work to be motivating, exciting and fulfilling. Making that a reality requires us to take the time to ask our employees what gratifies in the short-term, while fulfilling what they want and need from their career path in the long-term,” said co-founder and CTO Tim Griffiths.
“Our ethos is simple: We’re happy if they’re happy. And while they’re happy, we’re growing and continuing to expand here in Australia and internationally.”
